Render a synthetic clip with known ground truth. The court, the lens distortion and the player positions are all exactly known, so you can exercise every step and check the numbers before shooting real video.

Analysed clip
Ball flights and player boxes drawn onto your footage. Nothing here needs a calibration, because nothing here is converted to metres — the positions are image pixels, which are measured. For court distances and speeds, use steps 3–5 instead.
Run the analysis to get a clip to play.
Run it
A 7-minute clip takes about 8 minutes on the GPU, most of it video decoding. Analyse a 30-second window first to check the framing.

Step A · lens distortion
Trace 3+ points along any straight court line, twice or more. We solve for the radial coefficient that straightens them. An ultrawide bends lines, and a homography cannot undo that.
Step B · court landmarks
Four minimum, at line intersections. More is better and gives a real error estimate. Pick only points you can see.
